Metro-North Fairfield Metro Station officially renamed "Fairfield-Black Rock"

As of June 2024, Metro-North Rail Road's New Haven Line Fairfield Metro station has been renamed to Fairfield-Black Rock, with the reason being that Fairfield-Metro station was close to Fairfield's "Black Rock" neighborhood. Initially, on March 28th, The Connecticut Department of Transportation announced that this station would be renamed to ease confusion, this renaming coming only 12 years after Fairfield Metro station opened originally. Personally, I preferred Fairfield Metro over Fairfield-Black Rock, probably partly since I'm used to it, but I like how it sounds and the M8 ASI announcement is catchy.

Long Island Rail Road Celebrates 180th Anniversary Of Service to Greenport!

Today, Saturday, July 27th, 2024 marks 188 years since the first LIRR train reached Greenport. To celebrate this occasion, the LIRR operated a special excursion that you could take a train Greenport and learn about the railroad while you were at it, and then you'd explore the Greenport Railroad Museum of Long Island. To even further this, afterward, they operated an G16 Allen Marshall Park train under the name of 'Greenport Express'!!! The ticket price was $90 ($77 for children 5-11), but I couldn't attend since I was out of state. This tour seamed to be popular as it sold out on July 25th.  I'm hoping to get more posts out soon!

Welcome to Tri-State NOW!

This is a news website for the New York Tri-State rail. This site has news for Metropolitan Transit Authority, New Jersey Transit, CT Rail & Amtrak. Tri-State NOW takes a present-day look into the inner-workings of commuter rail in the NY tri-state area. This is a brand new news website, and expect posts every once in a while, sometimes they'll be multiple in a day, but sometimes it'll be a few weeks between posts. It all depends on how much is going on with rail, and how busy I am.  Generally, in posts, I'll talk about things these railroads can do to get better, and also, I'll talk about big news topics such as fleet additions, service changes, etc. I might also sometimes talk about other railroads not directly in the tri-state area, and rarely, other things.
